I let the boys name this one. Ayup.
Materials: Fingering weight yarn, about 20 yards (I used Twisted Fiber Arts’ Playful, colorway: Filanon), size 2 needles (+ dpn or cable needle, unless you like to cable without a needle), tapestry needle.
CO 21 stitches, knit every row for 4 rows for garter stitch edge.
Row 1: k4, p2, k9, p2, k4
Row 2: k2, p2, k2, p9, k2, p2, k2
Row 3: k4, p2, slip next 3 st to cable needle and hold to back of work, k next stitch, k3 from cable needle, k1, slip next stitch to cable needle and hold to front of work, k next 3 st, k1 from cable needle, p2, k4
Row 4: k2, p2, k2, p9, k2, p2, k2
Repeat rows 1-4 to desired length, finish with 4 rows knit for garter stitch edge, bind off. Block lightly.
Happy knitting (and reading)!
Beautiful colors. The name is quite apropos! Please excuse the dumbness of my question, but where on earth do you find “fingering weight” yarn? Or “sock yarn” for that matter? Maybe I shouldn’t phrase it that way since where YOU find such things will hardly help me in Arizona… I’m just sayin… I have no clue where to start looking!
Very pretty – thanks for the pattern!
Very clever way of using small amount of yarn. Very pretty colour!

Hi!
I made this 🙂
I don’t think it’s a good bookmark – a bit too thick to my taste – but it’s very pretty as a wristwarmer 🙂
If you want to see it, go to my Ravelry – I’m Ketutar there too 🙂

So pretty, I would like to use this stitch for a sweater… Thanks
That might be nice… especcially if you put one right over your spine.
This is perfect! Thanks!
What was the final width of your bookmark?
I didn’t measure it, and have given all mine as gifts, but my recollection is about 1.5″
