Knit One, Blog Two

The Stash Basket for Knitting Blog Entries

Jarndyce

My newest pattern, Jarndyce, is now live! You can look at or buy the pattern by following this link.

Jarndyce is named after one of my favorite stories, Bleak House, by Charles Dickens. The complicated-looking (deceptively so!) cables turn and overlap like the intricate plot and lawsuit for which the sock is named.  The phenomenal resolution of the story sets all the twists in context with one another, and I hope the cables here do the same to create a beautiful  whole picture.

The pattern is charted and written, and provides a choice for perfect symmetry, for OCD knitters like me!

This is really neat looking. Wish I could do design also.

Thank you, Sue! If you’ve ever tweaked a pattern for better fit or because you like a different heel/cuff/toe/lace pattern/etc, you’re on your way. I think the best school for designing is a lot of knitting/crocheting, trying lots of different patterns and techniques from a variety of designers.
