A Special Blanket

I love this blanket!  It’s for a friend’s baby, knit from Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport in the China Blue colorway. I used Debbie Bliss’s Shawl pattern as the point-from-which-to-depart. 

I enjoyed the edging…such a simple pattern that added so much once it was whip-stitched into place.

Yet another entry into the “Blocking is Magic” journal.

Beast to Blanket Wrap Up

Saturday night was Family Night for our homeschool co op, and my Beast to Blanket students had the opportunity to show off their stuff!

Here’s our class table.  Starting at the far left: roving, drop spindles, singles and a little skein of yarn spun by the kids, finger knitting out the wazoo, and Kool Aid dyeing…

Have Wheel, Will Travel

I taught spinning to the Beast to Blanket students yesterday. Naturally, Bessie needed to come along.
I showed the children how to spin a single, and how to 2 ply and Navajo ply.  We made drop spindles from a dowel, rubber grommet, screw-in hook and 2 CDs.  They practiced parking and drafting with a long yarn leader [...]
